Every now and then, we find ourselves in a position of needing help or assistance with something in our lives. The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:6-7, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”
This scripture is comforting when we are stressed or worried or afraid. It tells us if we pray to God with our own true hearts and are honest, yet thankful, that God will give us peace in the midst of it all. God is so amazing! He knows us. He is inviting us to come to Him when times are the toughest. He doesn’t want us to worry or fret. He is such an awesome God that He gives us peace and guards our hearts and our minds.
At WCC, when our hearts are hurting and our mind is troubled, we pray, we focus on God’s daily blessings, and we make sure to have our daily quiet time (devotionals) with the Lord. We also are encouraged to remember to stand on God’s many promises that He has given us through His word.
In the Help and Resources section of our website, we pray that your heart will be lifted as you:
- Submit a prayer request to our Prayer Warriors on the Prayer Requests page. At WCC, our Prayer Warriors ‘pray without ceasing’ (I Thessalonians 5:17) and ‘approach the throne of grace with boldness’ (Hebrews 4:16). We take your requests before the Lord without hesitation or doubt that the Lord hears and answers our prayers.
- Log on to our website every morning to get a scripture and a word of encouragement on our Daily Blessings page. This could be the scripture that you memorize or meditate on throughout your day to keep you grounded and focused on what God has for you.
- Our Wisdom First Devotionals page helps you to operate in wisdom as you face the challenges of life or as you are deciding to grow closer to the Lord. Click on this page to review a list of available resources in PDF format that you can download to help build your faith and understanding about belief, God’s unconditional love, sin, risk taking, procrastinating, focusing, purpose, prayer, and spiritual gifts.
- The Bible is full of God’s promises that we can stand on and believe each and every day of our lives. Our God’s Promises page is a collection of PDFs, downloadable sheets of scripture references by topics such as fear, honesty, joy, lying, peace and others that will help you in your time of need.
In addition to the Biblical references, our Pastor is very concerned about disaster preparedness. Living in the Bay Area makes everyone face the reality that a big earthquake (the big one) is inevitable. If we take seriously our disaster preparedness, there is more of a chance that the impact of such an emergency will be less damaging. Hence, we have dedicated an entire page of our website to disaster. Please take this seriously and implement the suggested strategies to stay safe in the midst.
Finally, our Pastor offers a resource that teaches us to develop governing values in our lives. These governing values, once developed, can help to guide our hearts, minds, actions and reactions and can keep us on the right path of discovering who you were born to be.
